A Shiatsu Massage treatment at Haelan Therapy in Hitchin, Hertfordshire is a traditional Japanese Zen massage which has its roots in Chinese medicine. Shiatsu unblocks congestion that results from emotional and physical stress, diet, accidents and injuries, lack of exercise and lifestyle choices. It aims to re-establish balance, reduce symptoms and improve health. Shiatsu will help integrate the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual to bring about a sense of wholeness and ‘feeling at home’ in your body.
How does the treatment work?
The initial consultation looks at your current health from a holistic perspective. This helps to establish what influences in your life may be impacting on any current symptoms. The session is specifically tailored to your needs and what you would like to get from the session. Acupressure is applied to stimulate the underlying energy flow within ‘meridians’ to promote relaxation and improve circulation. Stretches, joint mobilisations and a range of soft tissue techniques are used to free up joints and encourage deeper breathing. Recommendations or exercises will be given for self-care in your daily life. Shiatsu is ideal for any age. It is given on a futon on the floor or a table if preferred (please request this beforehand). You are asked to wear loose comfortable clothing as no oil is used. during this treatment.
